Moss Waives Goodbye to the Vikings

Randy Moss has been waived by the Vikings only four short weeks after the tumultuous trade from the Patriots. Moss was acquired by the Pats during the off-season in 2007. Even then, the acquisition was sketchy. Allegedly, Moss would only accept a pay cut if he went to the Pats. Obviously, that demand was based on the Pats stacking their lineup during the off-season, leaving them poised to win a Superbowl (which they should have won after winning every preceding game).

The bottom line: Randy Moss has always been "trouble." Much like Sebastian Telfair, Moss regularly found himself getting arrested for being a complete moron. It is no secret that Belichick runs a tight ship in Foxboro which may explain why Moss lasted there so long without incident.

However, this past Sunday, Moss repeated criticized his new coach, while praising Belichick. These are also rumor swirling that Moss disliked the Vikings choice of caterers, prompting some nasty commentary last Friday night.

Regardless, Moss is no longer with the Vikings and their ancient QB, Brett Favre. Although I doubt it, there is some talk that Moss may return to the Pats or, in the alternative, may be headed to Chicago.

Arenas Won't be in the Arena Anytime Soon

Through a plea agreement, Washington Wizards player (well, sorta) has plead guilty to a felony gun charge after admitting that he kept guns in his locker without a gun. Again, has Bassy Telfair taught us nothing?

Arenas faces between 6 months and 2 years of "time" for his crime. He may be given probation instead of jail time at his sentencing on March 26. Regardless, the NBA has suspended Arenas indefinitely.

Life Lessons from Bassy Telfair

If there is anything that Bassy Telfair has taught us it is not bring guns with you to basketball practice. Apparently Arenas and Crittenton didn't get the memo. Allegedly Arenas brought 4 guns with him to practice two days after a gambling dispute with his teammate, Crittenton. After Arenas left a note along with the 4 guns requesting that Crittenton "pick one," Arenas found himself at the other end of the barrel.

Ok, first of all, "wrong-place-at-the-wrong-time issue". I would venture to say, and I'm just spitballin' here, the real problem is most likely it's just about always the wrong time when it comes to Sebastian Telfair. [At this juncture you should throw on Eminem's "Criminal", which is the soundtrack for this blog entry.] Not that I am shadowing Telfair as part of his security detail (as it's pretty clear he's got that handled himself) and would know exactly how he spends his time but I mean, come on! Most people can get through a lifetime without criminal charges. He can't make it one year!

There is a group of "compassionate people" out there that think the Celtics should wait until it has been determined for sure that the gun did not belong to his "girlfriend". First of all, that excuse is getting old. "Seems" to have a handgun issue is an understatement. I think it's pretty clear at this point that he does in fact have a recurrent handgun "issue". And last time I checked carrying around a loaded handgun is against league rules regardless of whether it licensed to your "girlfriend". Of course, he wasn't working at the time of the most recent incident, but Telfair has proven he's a huge liability, the Celtics have enough problems as it is.

In other news, apple strudel poptarts are pretty good. Check 'em out. Perhaps they can take over Telfair's spot on the Celtic's bench. They don't pack heat...

Flashing Lights and Shooting Stars

Are athletes too soft? I mean, there used to be a stigma that pro athletes were "ghetto" and knew what was up in the 'hood. But seriously, learn to use a gun or just don't carry one.

First, there was the controversy over Bassy Telfair's chain and the mysterious Fabolous shooting. It's not a secret Telfair likes firearms of the unregistered variety as evidenced by his several arrests on gun charges. In fact, just a few months after the Fabolous incident, Telfair was arrested on the westside highway in New York City the day after the Celtics failed to make the playoffs with an unregistered gun. He was also driving without a license. Telfair, if you want to carry a gun around, don't do it to look cool, f'in use that thing when someone is trying to gank the chain off your neck you pansy!

Second, we have the lesson on when NOT to use your gun. I think you all know where this is going. Plaxico Burress shot himself in the leg last year causing himself a great deal of pain. That's right, it hurts when you shoot yourself AND they still put you in jail for it. Enough said, I think you all get the point here.

Finally, Jayson Williams will allegedly plead guilty this Friday to reduced charges after accidentally shooting and killing his driver. It is expected he will serve between 18 months and 3 years in jail. On the one hand, at least Williams didn't shoot himself. On the other, WHAT THE F WHERE YOU THINKING KILLING SOMEONE?! If you don't know how to use a gun, PUT IT DOWN.
